Super work. Your all ready to "sit on it" hauling ore pellets. When working the main line from Birdsboro west in the summer of 1970, the "Million Dollar" train was hauled by four or five of the venerable ALCo RS-3s. When a fifth unit appeared there were more than seventy 100T hoppers. Occasionally, 90T and 55T hoppers were in the longer trains with the 55T usually at the rear.
The equipment box on the long hood at the fireman's door, are those Tiger Valley or Short Line Products?

Nice work as always Chris!

I picked up on your comment about the scarcity of Bowser 100 ton hopper kits these days. It seems they’re getting harder and harder to find (decorated or not). Maybe it’s time for another special order run of Reading decorated kits like the ones done a couple years ago. Bowser is probably pretty busy with work on the new RS-3 models, but it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Thanks, Mark

One of the problems I found with the bowser 100 tonners is that they tilt too much when riding through curves.I remedied this by adding Kadee washers. The last three units I did were painted for the CSX and in the disassembly of the trucks for stripping and painting I found that Bowser has applied metal washers and the cars rode with no problems. The recent kits did not include washers.
Concerning another run of RDG hoppers sold through this site...that would be fine by me.I don't understand why Bowser just doesn't offer the RDG speed lettering scheme instead of the simple RDG scheme, the Bowser model is wrong for the RDG scheme.I can't remember if its the Walthers or Bachmann model that would be correct for the simpler scheme.

Piker... the equipment box on my RS's are detail parts from Custom Finishing Models.I also used detail parts from DA,DW,Calscale and MV lenses. The long hood railings and stanchions are from the Smokey Valley RS3 hand rail kit

The following pictures were taken this morning and I'm posting them for Tom.Back in Oct. of 08 Atlas had their 2nd run of 40-2's and offered them in the RDG scheme.I purchased 3 of the silver series RDG units and 2 undecorated units.I completed the following units sometime in 09 using SCII southern green and FQ reefer yellow.Hard to believe these are seven years old.
