I'll have to disagree with you Butch, don't know internally but their outward appearance was that of a GP9 body.

When these 2 units were rebuilt. EMD no longer made GP7's so they were rebuilt as GP9's. The hoods were trashed in the wreck so they were replaced with GP9 hoods as well.

Photo is of the 1531 and notice it has a GP9 body.

Not sure where else this might fit, so I will mention it here.

On Saturday afternoon 17 JAN 2015, Norm Rhoads passed on. Norm had a premier train shop in Morgantown for 25 years. He was also the second President of the RCT&HS from 1977 to 1982 (give or take a year)which was a time of re-establishment when the fledging society went into a hiatus after a rocky start-up with a few setbacks. Under Norm's direction the Society's first "Bee Line" published under its current format was issued. The station at Elverson was leased as a headquarters and both the passenger and freight station and Norm's personal passenger car, the Pullman "Baltimore County" were filled with files retrieved from the locomotive shop's engineering offices (MP&RE.) He also supported at least two of the original commemorative car model series to get under way (HTh and HTe series cars)

His interest in trains mostly surrounded his passion for the classic Lionel "Hi Rail" trains. His shop started out as just a repair service for Lionel trains and kind of took off from there. While he dropped out of the Society scene after several terms in office, mostly due to a growing family, and interest and involvement in his school and local township government he always had me keep him up to date on the Society going ons. He was currently working on a 48ft. x 28ft. O gauge railroad called the Conestoga Terminal & Traction Ry. (CT&T so named in respect to his lifelong employer, Conestoga Telephone & Telegraph, nee D&E then Windstream via acquisitions)He also took on the John Hall/Diamond State Decals, giving sales rights to Randy Dunlap and then he himself distributed the sought after Reading decals as time allowed.

Norm was a big guy and a big thinker, always coming up with big ideas for me to try to figure out.. I will miss him very much.
