Chris: Your work is always tops! That looks like one of the older P2K GP30 models, not the revised Walther’s version. Nice touch of color with the red MU cable across the front. What did you use for that part (Details West, Details Associate, or home made)?

Toy Train Heaven still has a couple Walther’s GP-30s with or without sound available on their cloud 9 sale website.

T1nut: Did all cars in that HTd class have that top cord reinforced? I think they did, so I’ll have to add that detail too. Still trying to photograph the brake hardware on an existing HT hopper so I can accurately model all the brake plumbing and lines. I know the BM&R has some of these cars still in service, but they must be up in a remote area.

Mark; most all the classes of hoppers had the side piece. from 2 bay ribbed and offset hoppers, to the last class of HT 3 bay 100 ton cars. but always check for photos of the cars you will be modeling. I usually look things up in Bossler's color equipment book. mine is starting to get a little worn, from so much use.

Thanks Mark...the 3612 is not an older PK model. All the completed units 3611/12/13 are from the new Walther's release. The MU cable is from DW.

Finished work on three Accurail hoppers.I replaced the plastic wheels with PK 33 wheels.Trucks and wheel faces painted a grimy black. The interior was painted rail brown and weathered with various rust and black powders.I too added the extra bracing.I use Evergreen angle .060" item number 291.These first two hoppers were weathered using powders and sealed with dull coat.
