This board is the place where questions and information specific to MODELING the Reading Company, its equipment and operations can be shared - questions like "What was the window arrangement of AF Tower in Alburtis?" and "What color paint do YOU use to paint the Reading's cream-and-brown buildings?" We also want to hear about YOUR Reading modeling projects!

Project six was completed yesterday...it was more relaxing then watching the Eagles game
Another LV project.Back when they were available I picked up two undec.Athearn Gen 9's.I did 300 first and completed 301 yesterday.Out of all the units I've done I find that the Genesis models are my least favorite to work with...missing parts, broken handrails, miles of wire and just how fragile they seem to work with.I have an undec.Gen 38-2 slated for the LV but I won't touch that any time soon.
301 was painted with MM insignia red and orange, trucks and fuel tank FQ grimey black.MS decals again and weathered in my usual way. Both sides of the long hood handrails were broken in a couple of places.I replaced them using P2K gp 9 handrails I had in my spare parts drawer.

300&301 together.Notice the difference in the horn placement and the application of the LEHIGH VALLEY on the long hood.

Received my RDG decals today on to some RDG freight car projects.

Chris,
John Caples had some decal sets made up with these style numbers.
I have some if you post your mailing address or send me a SSAE. They are the yellow that Herald King used. They contain a lot of different useful numbers, return to, etc.

Hello everyone,
Heading out to the RRMM III.
Thought I share some vintage Reading models. These guys are not making the trip, but deserve a little spot light for being 40 +/- years old.
Enjoy When O scale was King.

Beautiful models, Hugh. I'm guessing that's an All Nation NW2. What's the origin of the passenger cars? Were they scratch built, or were they built from Walthers' kits

Robin,
The NW2 is All Nation/General Models, with some extra details and refinements. Did this about 3 years ago.
The passenger cars where built by the late Bill Russel, many years ago.
They are Walther's based kits.
Thank You,
Hugh Sinn
