Was just through Rushland last week. The station is becoming derelict again. Great work on that model. I like the pilot pump. I enjoyed the vids of SMS placing no. 9's boiler on the chassis. It's really cool they're keeping it alive. Does the New Hope even run any more?

As far as I know they do, I think mostly using the GP-30 and C30-7. I am not sure of the status of 40 but if I had to guess I think its not operational right now, but I could be wrong. I intend to make the other two new hope engines at some point, I just happen to have had the 0-6-0 to do 9. It was a project I had in mind for a while but I'm glad it waited getting much more running gear practice in first.

Nice work as always, Casey! It hadn't occurred to me that those Army 0-6-0s were USRA copies. The front mounted pumps make them look bigger than the USRA 0-6-0, at least to my eyes. It makes perfect sense that the Army would dust off USRA blueprints when looking for new power.

Bill, the New Hope and Ivyland is apparently alive and well, although #9 is no longer operational:

We rode the NH&I several years ago and had a delightful ride. We were staying over at the Station Inn in Lambertville, a pleasant walk over the bridge from New Hope (and next door to the former PRR Bel-Del station, now an excellent restaurant). We bought first class tickets, and I learned the hard way that the train's bartender was a very generous pourer. Baldwin 2-8-0 #40 did the honors that day. It's a nice ride, and the ticket upgrade is great for us cranky older adults seeking air conditioning, beverage service, and a child-free environment.

It dawned on me too when exploring the idea of doing the New Hope engines. The only brass casting I used was the compressor on the front, the proto casting is too small. I used a power reverse too but that is only because the plastic one poofed on me, still bugs me I have no idea what happened to it. The headlights are scratch, the calscale ones I had looked too big to me.

Doing 9 is getting me to put some serious thought into 1533 and 40. They will be in different eras, 9 in the 1967 look, 1533 with the red boxes of the early 70s, and 40 from the early 90s when my father co headed the project to get it running. 40 obviously has the most sentimental value, I even have a picture of me running it at the age of 6, in 1992. My father took the picture.

After the weathering project I started and completed two XMxa boxes using the undecorated Atlas model. The model itself comes with various roof and car ends to be added by the modeler per prototype being modeled. When comparing the car end choices to that applied to the Atlas banner 50fter none supplied were a match. Also,as with the decorated model,no tack boards are supplied for mounting on the doors.
The units were painted using SCII box car red and the orange panel on the doors were brush painted.First I used FQ reefer orange as a primer and when dried I used Model Master international orange.
The decals used were from the RDG modeler.Sol-v-set was used to snug them in place. Both were weathered using pan pastels with everything sealed using dull coat.
I used pictures on page 70 of Bossler's book for reference, but choose not to do the car numbers in the photos.
